The Drovers Camp is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preserving Australia's droving heritage, maintaining The Droving Heritage Centre, hosting events, and educating future generations. We rely heavily on our volunteers and the support of donors, sponsors, and supporters to keep this history alive.

Volunteer

From odd jobs and maintenance to greeting visitors and event support to casual gardening.  Volunteers are the lifeblood of Drover’s Camp.  Volunteer between May and September and join our fun-loving team.

"Ross and I enjoy volunteering at the Drovers Camp, as from Ross’s point of view it is the challenges and mateship he experiences there. I enjoy similar things, but also meeting and welcoming new people to the museum and hopefully encourage sales from our merchandise shop. 

The happy hour at the end of the day is a kind of a bonding experience with other volunteers too, as we talk about our day. Good friendships are made while volunteering at The Drovers Camp as I think we are all there for the same reason, to keep it all going."

"I love working for The Drovers Camp. It’s a fascinating place and a great, well-led team. We work hard to keep the legends and history of the drovers and our museum alive. I’ve been involved in creating the notes for the museum tour, getting the wonderful murals done, and now on a project to allow visitors to hear some of the ABC’s recordings of interviews with the old drovers."

"We spend quite a few months each year travelling in our caravan. We were passing The Drovers Camp about 3 weeks ago and dropped in to see if there was anything we could help with. I’ve been able to make and mend, and I’m helping with maintenance and installations. Therese has been helping out in the Museum, the cafe and generally. We’ve had a great time and we will stay on longer until we want to move on. "

"I did my first cattle drive when I was 14, and I finished up on my last drive in 1969. I’m nearly 80 years old and I’ve been coming here for years. I love catching up with my old friends who are drovers, we have lots to talk about and it’s great friendship. I help where I can and enjoy being with the old guys. There’s always plenty to do and people are willing to help and share. "
