MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER OF QUEENSLAND

Peter BeattieThe Drover’s Camp Festival celebrates and commemorates the 'hard yakka' put in by Queensland’s drovers who travelled the Camooweal region to forge our cattle industry.

Visitors flock to the area to join the cattlemen and women enjoy a weekend of traditional droving activities, from camp cooking to horseshoeing and bronco branding. The Festival reunites old droving mates and gives the rest of us a true-blue taste of Aussie history and outback life.

Regional events such as this provide a great opportunity to showcase our many talents, unique cultural heritage and the natural attractions which define Queensland. They also diversify our regional economies and contribute enormously to community pride.

The Queensland Government, through the Queensland Events Regional Development Program, is proud to support this historically significant Festival.

The program is a Smart State initiative designed to take innovative and creative regional events like the Drover’s Camp Festival to their full potential. There's been some $6.9 million invested in more than 340 regional events since this very successful funding program started in 2001.

I would like to recognise the great efforts of the organising committee and sponsors, as well as the many volunteers and local businesses that work to make this event such a success.

Enjoy the festival .. and make the time to explore more of the region’s attractions while you are here!

Peter Beattie
