CAMOOWEAL FACTS During the 1800's, cattle were walked via Camooweal to the Kimberley area in West Australia to populate the big cattle runs. The largest mob was 20,000 in one lift of 2000, two days apart, taken by "The King" - Nat Buchanan (Old Bluey). In all, over 200,000 were walked in this way. In the years that followed, Camooweal became the Drovers centre after delivery at Dajarra - then the world's largest rail trucking centre. |
